Calling all writers

What you need to know about our contest

The contest includes five age divisions: Children in Grades 2-3; Grades 4-5; Grades 6-8; Grades 9-12; and Adult.

* Entrants must be a resident of Washington County, MD or have a valid Washington County Free Library Card.
* Writers may enter up to two poems (up to 1 page in length per poem) & one short story (up to 750 words in length). 
* All entries must be original work and may be on any topic.
* All entries must include author name, age division, address, phone number, and email if available.
* No email submissions accepted.
* Remember to keep a copy of your work. Originals will not be returned.
* There will be first & second place winners and an honorable mention for each division.
* Watch our website for winner’s announcement.

Entries may be submitted between January 2 and March 15, 2018 to any library branch throughout the county or they may be mailed to:
